Work is starting on Monday 28 April on the Rose Hill to Pinson Road cycle scheme in Willenhall. The 1.2km route will comprise of a segregated cycleway and shared walking and cycling path between Pinson Road and the Rose Hill / Bilston Lane junction. Sandwell Council and its waste partner Serco have teamed up with pupils from Temple Meadow Primary School, to launch a new initiative aimed at reducing the amount of dog mess left near their school. The project, which encourages responsible pet ownership, was developed after students raised concerns about the ongoing issue of dog fouling on their walk to school. The children have been reminding dog owners to clean up after their pets and have sent out communications to local parents. A launch event was held earlier this month at the Transition and Care Leaving Hub in Pleck, Walsall. A new local house project has been launched in Walsall which will support young people leaving care to live independently. The Walsall House Project will provide care leavers with nine-months of intensive support to prepare them for leaving care so that they are ready to live independently. The project also provides opportunities for care leavers to work together in small groups and build a community of support. Leader of Walsall Council, Councillor Garry Perry, has called upon agencies in Staffordshire in a bid to collectively tackle the use of illegal off-road bikes.
