Sign up for WV Active’s 5 a side football tournament

WV Active Aldersley is celebrating this year’s World Cup with an indoor 5 a side football tournament, and teams are invited to sign up now.

Taking place on Saturday 30 May, the tournament is open to everyone aged 16 or over. The first game will kick off at 9.30am, with the final taking place at 3.45pm.

Teams will be guaranteed 75 minutes of indoor football, and even more if they qualify for the knockouts. The winning team will also receive 3, free indoor 5 a side sessions.

Entry is £30 per team; to sign up, please visit Indoor Football Tournament – World Cup Special!.

Councillor Obaida Ahmed, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: “With the excitement of the World Cup around the corner, WV Active is delighted to be hosting its own 5 a side tournament in May.

“Participants will enjoy 75 minutes of game time on the indoor pitches at Aldersley and be in with a chance of even more football if they progress to the knockout stages.

“The tournament is a great way to encourage participation amongst friends whilst also taking part in group exercise, something that has huge benefits for everyone.

“Becoming more physically active in a team improves health and wellbeing, strengthens social connections and promotes activity in a competitive way.

“So please sign up your team, enjoy some friendly competition and see if you have got what it takes to lift the trophy.”
