Sandwell Council has thanked local businesses for donating bleed control kits and a defibrillator to help save lives.
Equipment has been installed across Sandwell’s six towns – including in two libraries and a range of other community venues – as a legacy of this summer’s Safer 6 community safety campaign.
Over the past few months, four businesses have donated seven bleed control kits and one new defibrillator. The businesses have also donated external cabinets to house equipment.
Sandwell Council thanks the following businesses for their donations.
GB Tyres, West Bromwich (bleed kit installed in Wednesbury)
JH Lavender & Co, West Bromwich (three bleed kits installed in Smethwick, West Bromwich and Tipton, with one more ready to install)
MAC Surfacing, Tipton (defibrillator and bleed kit installed at Blackheath Library)
Orapi Maintenance UK, Wednesbury (bleed kit installed at Bleakhouse Library, Oldbury)
Dodd Group, one of the council’s contractors, has also helped to install the equipment as part of its social value work.
The newly installed equipment builds on existing bleed control kits and defibrillators donated and installed in Sandwell over recent years.
Councillor Ray Nock, Sandwell Council’s Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth, said: “We are very grateful to local businesses for donating this life-saving equipment. This shows excellent partnership between the council, businesses and the wider community, working for everyone in Sandwell.
“This equipment means a faster emergency response in the community, improved survival chances, increased visibility of safety measures in public spaces and increased confidence in town centres.
“Local businesses and contractors have stepped up to make a real difference, supporting our emergency services and helping to make Sandwell safer for everyone.”
