Partners join forces for Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week across Walsall

Running from 29 June to 5 July, Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week shines a spotlight on the impact anti-social behaviour can have on individuals and communities, while encouraging residents to report incidents and seek support.

Throughout the week, Walsall Council will work alongside West Midlands Police, whg and Green Square Accord on a coordinated programme of activity across the borough.

More than 25 separate activities are planned, including joint patrols, youth engagement sessions, estate walkabouts, retail crime operations and off-road bike engagement. Work such as this takes place year-round.

High-visibility joint patrols involving Walsall Council’s Community Protection Enforcement Officers (CPEOs) and Police will take place across town centres, parks and known hotspot locations throughout the week. Officers will visit wards including St Matthew’s, Bloxwich, Blakenall, Leamore and Willenhall, engaging directly with residents, businesses and young people, helping to maintain a visible presence, address local concerns and provide advice and support.

Other activity planned during the week includes youth engagement sessions, estate walkabouts with housing partners, trading standards activities, targeted patrols in areas affected by anti-social behaviour and a retail crime operation in Walsall town centre.

“ Anti-social behaviour can have a significant impact on people’s quality of life and their sense of safety within their communities.

“ASB Awareness Week provides an opportunity for partners to come together, engage with residents and demonstrate the action being taken to tackle issues that matter most to local people.

“Through joint patrols, engagement events and enforcement activity, we want residents to know that reports of anti-social behaviour are taken seriously and that partners are committed to making communities safer. “

Councillor Ian Benton, Portfolio Holder for Street Scene and Enforcement

Anti-social behaviour is any behaviour that causes harassment, alarm or distress. This can include nuisance behaviour, environmental crime, criminal damage, intimidation and activities that negatively impact local communities.
