No Smoking Day – 11 March

Wednesday (11 March) is no smoking day, when smokers across the country are invited to kick the habit and go smokefree.

No Smoking Day reminds smokers that the best thing they can do for their health is stop smoking.

This year’s campaign aims to highlight that “a smoke-free life starts with a smoke-free day”.

Quitting smoking is easier with support. Anyone who lives or works in Solihull can contact the Smokefree Solihull team for free personalised support.

The team will also be holding a drop-in session at Chelmsley Wood Library next Wednesday between 11am and 12:30pm, for anyone wanting to find out in person how they can support smokers in their stop smoking journey.

Cllr Tony Dicicco, Solihull’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, said:

“There’s no better day than No Smoking Day for smokers to start their quit journey.

“I’d really encourage smokers to speak to the team at Chelmsley Wood library next Wednesday to find out how they can help you quit.

“The team can also be contacted online or over the phone, with free sessions personally tailored and appointments scheduled around times that work for you.

“Every ex-smoker began with one cigarette-free day, helping them become healthier and wealthier.

The Smokefree Solihull team provide free one-to-one support with trained advisors, for a 12-week quit programme that includes free nicotine replacement therapies and personalised coaching.

The team can also be contacted by phone on 0121 740 1212, or you can find out more on the Smokefree Solihull website.
