Nighttime resurfacing starts on Stafford Road/Three Tuns Lane island this week as City of Wolverhampton Council’s highways improvements continue.
It is part of a £10 million planned programme of highways projects approved by the council’s cabinet earlier this year and being rolled out across the city.
The latest resurfacing and relining will ensure safer, smoother journeys for thousands of people who use the key route into Wolverhampton daily.
A nighttime temporary closure of the island will be required between 7pm and 5am only, from Wednesday 19 August to Friday 21 August, with signed diversions in place.
Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for City Transport, said: “This is another key route being resurfaced that supports thousands of journeys every day, so keeping it in good condition is vital for residents, businesses and everyone who travels through the city.
“This is part of our investment in highways this year, which is helping deliver road improvements across Wolverhampton.
“We’ve already completed work on major routes including Chapel Ash island and Ring Road St Georges along with many others in recent weeks. This is another important step in boosting journeys for all road users across the city.
“Through planned preventative maintenance, we can stop roads deteriorating further.
“This approach will help us reduce the need for as many urgent pothole repairs in the future, ensuring our road network remains in the best possible condition for years to come.”
