New funding available to Walsall organisations to promote and increase volunteering opportunities this Volunteers Week

Grants of between £5000 and £15,000 are now available for projects in the Walsall borough that promote and increase volunteering opportunities.

The Walsall 2040 Volunteer Programme is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UK SPF) and managed by Walsall Council and will offer grants for approximately 8 small charities and not-for-profit voluntary sector organisations who are established, based and providing services in the borough of Walsall.

Projects will be required to deliver activities which create new volunteer opportunities and support Walsall residents to access them.

“ This is a great opportunity for local organisations to access funding and help us to inject new life into the borough’s voluntary sector, creating opportunities for local people.

Volunteering is a great way for local people to not only gain skills and experience, but also to foster a sense of community, build connections and create positive change for our communities. “

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Acting Leader

Walsall Council

Projects applying for the funding will need to be able to evidence the following:

Number of individuals supported

Number of NEW Volunteer opportunities created

Total number of volunteer hours completed

Accredited qualifications, where applicable

How your project supports Walsall Council to achieve We are Walsall 2040 objectives.

Applications need to describe what activities will be delivered (a minimum of 12 hours of support) along with the numbers of individuals that will be engaged to achieve this outcome. All projects must be delivered and completed by no later than 11th January 2026.

All applications and supporting documents must be sent by email to: communitygrants@walsall.gov.uk by the closing date of 20th June 2025.
