From Wakefield to the World: Charity Chairman Inspires Generations

Wakefield, UK – March 2026

Award-winning Chairman Mohammed Jahangir has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Wakefield, recognising his outstanding contribution to the global humanitarian sector.

Previously decorated by the Right Honourable Gordon Brown MP, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, in recognition of his contribution as a social worker and community leader, Mohammed Jahangir has dedicated over 30 years to giving back to the communities that shaped him.

During his tenure as Global Chairman (2021–2024), he strengthened governance, shaped strategic direction, and helped grow Penny Appeal into a vital lifeline for vulnerable communities in the UK and beyond.

A state-of-the-art community hub facility in West Yorkshire continues to support and transform the lives of young people, the elderly, refugees, and families in need.

This work contributes to a wider global mission that has transformed over 56 million lives worldwide.

Mohammed Jahangir said upon accepting the award:

“I always did what’s best for the community, and to make sure donors’ money is being spent in the right places.”

Ishaq Israr, Chief Executive Officer of Penny Appeal, said:

” Mohammed Jahangir’s leadership has not only transformed an organisation — it has transformed lives at scale. From Wakefield to the world, his vision, integrity and relentless commitment to humanity have set a standard that will inspire generations to come.”

From Wakefield to the world, Mohammed Jahangir’s legacy stands as a powerful example of leadership that inspires generations.
