Wolverhampton now has 8 weapon surrender bins, following the installation of 2 new bins at St Joseph’s Church, Coalway Road, and at junction of Green Lane and Prouds Lane in Bilston.
These safe and secure metal boxes are available for people to anonymously dispose of knives, blades, and other dangerous objects. All items deposited are safely destroyed.

Councillor Obaida Ahmed, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: “It should be remembered that incidents of knife related crime remain rare in Wolverhampton, and this is one example of a continued robust partnership response to keep our city safe.
“Sadly, knives and other dangerous weapons are very easy to obtain nationally but, if we are able to get them off the streets, they cannot be used to commit a crime or cause injury.
“The addition of 2 new weapon surrender bins brings our total to 8 across the city. Each one plays a vital role in helping to prevent crime and keeping our communities safe by giving people who may be carrying blades the option to dispose of them safely and without fear.”
Each bin has been commissioned by either the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner or the Home Office.
Councillor Ahmed added: “Nearly 3,600 weapons were deposited into weapon surrender bins across the West Midlands between February 2024 and March 2025.
“This is just one strand of the vital work that the council, the Police and Crime Commissioner and the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership are delivering to prevent and divert children and young people from becoming either a victim of, or a perpetrator of, youth violence and knife crime.”
