Two Bloxwich Parks to get makeover thanks to Bloxwich Town Deal

Both Leamore Park and Bloxwich Park, Memorial and Prominade Gardens will soon be transformed thanks to funding from the Bloxwich Town Deal.

Contractors were on site last week for a pre-start site visit and work has started in Leamore Park today (Monday 12 May). The work will be phased so that both parks aren’t closed to the public at the same time.

The work will see both parks given a new lease of life, with new play areas designed by local schools, and various other improvements and repairs.

“ Improving Bloxwich’s parks is a key part of our plan for Bloxwich, creating opportunities for local people to spend time outdoors for leisure and exercise, and creating attractive, safe spaces for children and young people. The plans for the parks look great and I look forward to seeing them up and running early next year. “

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Associate Leader

Walsall Council

Bloxwich Park will benefit from a brand-new Pat Collins Funfair themed children’s play area, designed by local schoolchildren, as well as landscaping and repairs to pathways to improve access. The Pat Collins Memorial Garden and the Prominade Gardens will both be restored and repaired to improve accessibility, with new and additional seating set to be added and planting of low maintenance shrubs and ornamental planting throughout the park.

Leamore Park will have a seaside themed children’s play area, again designed by local schoolchildren. The Golden Mile Circuit will be upgraded to create a new walking and running activity track suitable for all ages, and the park will be landscaped including the planting of new trees, plants and bulbs. Pathways will be repaired and resurfaced as needed and new/additional seating will be added, as well as bollards to deter antisocial behaviour.

These park improvements form part of the £25million Bloxwich Town Deal, funded through the Government’s Towns Fund, which will also see King George V Memorial Playing Fields transformed in the coming months.
