Rocket League esports event in Solihull!

The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) will host its first arena event of the year at bp pulse LIVE (NEC Campus) in Solihull from 29 to 30 March 2025.

RLCS 2025 Major Birmingham is expected to draw thousands of fans from across the world. Tickets are selling fast so people are urged to book their tickets now!

Esports (or electronic sports) are organised video game competitions (player-vs-player) with an engaging spectator element to it, like traditional sports. Rocket League is a fast-paced, action-packed esport that combines the thrill of football with rocket-powered cars!

RLCS 2025 Major Birmingham will have national and international significance, welcoming some of the world’s best Rocket League players to Solihull and the wider region. 16 teams from around the world will compete for the first trophy of the RLCS 2025 Season in front of a live audience on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 March. Rocket League fans can purchase tickets via Live Nation and AXS.

The exciting arena event will form part of the ‘Game on Birmingham’ event series, running from 26 to 30 March including the inaugural British Esports Cup featuring Rocket League and West Midlands Unwrapped.

The ‘British Esports Cup’ featuring Rocket League promises intense action and excitement as players from across the UK from as young as 13 battle it out for a £5,000 prize pool. The champions can also look forward to competing against professional esports athletes in front of a packed arena at the RLCS 2025 Major Birmingham weekend.

In addition, West Midlands Unwrapped, an invite-only business esports summit, will take place on Friday 28 March. The summit will be an opportunity for key business and industry leaders to network and identify future growth opportunities in this fast-growing sector.

People visiting the borough for Game on Birmingham can book centrally located hotel rooms via this webpage, and are encouraged to check out the Visit Solihull website for information on where to eat, drink and stay in the borough.

Councillor Ian Courts, Leader of Solihull Council and Lead Member for Business and the Economy commented: “The countdown is on to this prestigious esports event. Solihull is proud to host Game on Birmingham and the RLCS Major Birmingham, in partnership with the British Esports Federation and BLAST.

“Thousands of fans from across the world are expected to visit our borough during the event weekend which will bring unrivalled benefits to the region’s hospitality and visitor economy. It will put Solihull on the world stage and promote the borough, the West Midlands and the NEC Campus as a national and international hub for gaming and esports championships.

“Alongside the benefits to the local economy, students at Solihull College, care leavers and residents who are out of work will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at an exciting international event. A fantastic 144 work experience placements will be available and 50 secondary school children from the north of the borough will also benefit from a behind-the-scenes tour.”

Solihull Council is working in partnership with BLAST, British Esports Federation, NEC Group, West Midlands Growth Company and the University of Warwick.

The West Midlands Combined Authority and the UK Government is supporting the organisers of the event with funding from the Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund. This is being used to boost trade and tourism sectors and bring vital footfall to local businesses in the region.
