Driving the next generation of automotive talent through apprenticeships

During this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, Volkswagen Group UK is not only celebrating with a visit to the Houses of Parliament to showcase network skills, but also launching a number of new head office apprenticeship roles.

On Monday, our National Learning Centre apprenticeship team and seven learners took part in a Society of Manufacturers and Traders event at the Houses of Parliament. They had the chance to showcase their learnings and share their passion for working in the automotive industry with sector leaders and politicians, as well as to undertake an unforgettable guided tour of the Houses of Parliament.

Volkswagen Group UK has around 1,000 apprentices in training at any one time, across its Service Technician, Customer Service and Paint and Body courses. Learners are employed by one of our 600 retail sites, with training and development completed in blocks in the network as well as at the National Learning Centre in Milton Keynes.

New for 2025, Volkswagen Group UK is expanding opportunities for those wanting to break into the sector, and is offering level 3, 4 and 5 apprenticeships at its head office in Milton Keynes. These roles cover Data, IT, Business and Finance, and are expected to be in high demand for those wanting to start out and develop in the UK’s leading automotive group.

Kate Hardie, Early Careers Manager at Volkswagen Group UK said: “Having just been named as a Best 100 Student Employer at the recent RateMyPlacement Awards, we’re excited to build on this and provide a great experience for apprentices joining Volkswagen Group UK. We’ve already run successful and sought-after graduate and undergraduate schemes for many years now and are looking forward to expanding our early careers offering with these new apprenticeships. There are so many opportunities within our sector and we’re hoping this will be one way to attract new and diverse people, and to grow our own talent in these key skills areas.”
