Council launches new warmth packs for Walsall appeal

These packs will include essential items to help vulnerable residents stay safe and warm. The aim is to include blankets, thermos flasks, hot water bottles, winter duvets, hats, gloves and scarves.

The campaign is being spearheaded by Council Leader Councillor Garry Perry.

We understand the challenges facing our residents on low incomes during the winter and we are committed to providing support where it is most needed.

We are determined to do everything we can to support those in need and I am appealing to the generosity of our local communities. Anyone who feels able to donate, please consider doing so and help us make a real difference to the lives of some of our most vulnerable residents. We need to look after each other so please support this cause.

Residents can drop their donations off at the seven libraries in the borough in Aldridge, Bloxwich, Brownhills, Darlaston, the Lichfield Street Hub in Walsall town centre, Streetly and Willenhall.All donated items should be in a new condition.For more information about Walsall Libraries, visit https://go.walsall.gov.uk/walsall-libraries

This appeal is part of a package of support being offered by Walsall Council and its partners to help the borough meet the challenges of the rising cost of living and support vulnerable residents.

The Warm Walsall project is funded by Walsall Council and the UK Prosperity Fund, in partnership with Walsall Community Network. It offers a helping hand to anyone who may be struggling, providing a safe space where residents can have a hot drink and meet in a place that is welcoming and warm.

Walsall Council is also providing significant support to residents through the Household Support Fund (HSF). With £2.8 million in government funding, the council aims to assist around 13,500 households from October 2024 to April 2025. This fund is designed to help low-income households manage essential costs during the winter months.
