Save the date as UCLS announced as this year’s city Diwali event sponsor

There is just over 2 weeks to go until Diwali, and the festival of lights will be celebrated in a free City of Wolverhampton Council event at Phoenix Park on Saturday 10 October.

The event takes place from 4pm until 8.30pm at the venue off Dudley Road in Blakenhall and will be hosted by the Shree Krishan Mandir, with UCLS announced as this year’s event sponsor. Following the switching on of the lights at 8pm, there will be a spectacular fireworks display.

Councillor Sally Green, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for Resources, said: “Diwali is a wonderful event in our city that brings families, friend and communities together for a cultural celebration.

“The event is free and features top quality entertainment and a fantastic firework display. We encourage everyone to plan early and come along to celebrate this important event in the city’s calendar.”

UCLS are a Midlands based logistics provider who currently operate nationwide. They provide customer led solutions as well as tailoring intelligent solutions and pride themselves on customer service and going the extra mile to exceed customer expectations.

Ricky Sharma, Managing Director, UCLS, said: “For us, supporting the local community is incredibly important. Wolverhampton is at the heart of UCLS, so when we have the opportunity to support an event that brings people together and celebrates culture, community and togetherness, it’s something we’re proud to be part of.

“Diwali is a celebration of light, positivity and new beginnings, and events like this give the local community a chance to come together and celebrate what makes Wolverhampton such a diverse and vibrant place to live and work.”

People are advised to make their plans early as the event site has a capacity of 9,000 and will operate on a first come first served basis. Once capacity has been reached, the gates will shut and a one in one out system will be put in place.

The event is supported by the Indian Multicultural Society, Shree Krishan Mandir, Gurdwara Sikh Council & Gujarati Association.
