Sandwell Council launches new stop smoking service

Sandwell Council is proud to launch Stop For Life Sandwell, a new community stop smoking service designed to help people quit and live healthier lives.

Run by behaviour change specialists ICE, the service is free and available to anyone living, working or registered with a GP in Sandwell.

Support includes:

One-to-one behavioural support

Tailored quit plans

Advice on Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and vapes, plus 12 weeks of free products

The Best-You healthy lifestyles app

The service is welcoming, easy to access and here to help people take that first step – or try again – on their journey to becoming smoke-free.

Councillor Jackie Taylor, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Wellbeing, said: “I know how difficult it is when trying to give up smoking because I’ve been there myself. However, I also know the benefits it brings to your health and wellbeing.

“Smoking remains one of the biggest health inequalities in Sandwell and a leading cause of preventable illness and death. With the launch of Stop For Life Sandwell, we are bringing stop smoking support to our residents within their own communities, to help them to stop for life.

“This service is about more than just stopping smoking – it’s about giving people the tools, support and confidence to lead healthier, longer lives. We’re proud to be working in partnership with ICE to deliver a caring, easy-to-access service that is shaped by Sandwell residents, for Sandwell residents.”

Stuart Jackson, CEO of ICE, said: “We’re proud to launch our new Stop Smoking Service in Sandwell – building on our deep-rooted commitment to improving health and wellbeing across the region. Helping people live healthier, happier lives is at the heart of everything we do. From insight to action, our approach is rooted in listening and connecting. We’re excited to continue our work across Sandwell and the wider Black Country, co-creating support that truly fits people’s lives.”
