Across April, 1834 bags of rubbish were removed from Walsall’s streets. This builds on work carried out during the Great British Spring Clean, which saw 1750 bags collected in just two weeks.
Litter picking events are organised through the Walsall Community Litter Watch (WCLW), established in August 2019 to help address the litter issue within the Borough.
Volunteers dedicated more than 1000 hours across April to keep the borough clean. This effort included three formal events, at Barr Beacon in Aldridge, Anson Road in Bentley and Bath Street Centre in Caldmore.
“ Our Community Litter Watch is a resounding success in many ways and a shining example of people in Walsall taking pride in the place they call home.
“The people who show up every month and take responsibility for their areas, clearing rubbish that isn’t theirs, can’t be thanked enough.
“We have 14 active litter-picking groups in Walsall, so there is likely one near you holding events that keep the area you live in clean.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested to get involved and to take action in helping us keep the place we call home clean”.

Time: 11am to 1pm
Meet: New Invention Square
Beechdale Litter Pick (WS2 7DY)
Date: Thursday 26 June
Time: 10am to 12noon
Meet: Beechdale Car Park, Stephenson Square
To help make litter picking as easy as possible, Walsall Council can provide hi-vis jackets, litter pickers, gloves and bags to residents.
