Free pop-up Dementia information at the Lichfield Street Hub Library

Dementia information pop-up stand featuring Reminiscence & Interactive Therapy Activities and Retro TV at Lichfield Street Hub Library, Walsall

Dementia Action Week is a national campaign which aims to raise awareness and promote the importance of early diagnosis to help improve the lives of people affected by dementia.

The Alzheimer’s Society will host the pop-up stand on the ground floor of the Lichfield Street Hub Library, providing valuable resources and information about dementia.

Through the Libraries Improvement Funding, Walsall Council has also established ‘Dementia Corners’ in all seven of its libraries across the borough. These corners offer resources to help raise awareness about dementia, including information on recognising early symptoms and the support services available through the council.

“ Dementia Action Week is a vital opportunity for of all of us to learn more about dementia and how it affects the people in our communities.

I encourage everyone to visit the Dementia information day at the Lichfield Street Hub Library or any of the dementia corners across all our libraries in Walsall to gain more knowledge, ask questions, and understand how we can collectively support those living with dementia and their dedicated carers right here in Walsall. “

Councillor Amandeep Garcha, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Resident Access at Walsall Council

“ If you’re in Walsall and living at home with dementia, or caring for someone who is, Walsall Council is here to help.

We understand the difficulties you may be facing. Currently, 982,000 people are living with dementia in the UK and it’s important that we focus on improving the well-being of individuals living with the condition as well as supporting their carers. “

Councillor Keir Pedley, Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care and Health

Walsall’s Home Care Service helps individuals struggling to cope with dementia or those caring for someone with the condition.
