500 families enjoy six-weeks of free family fun in Walsall

Launched for the first time this year, the Summer Adventure Passport was created to support early childhood development and provide free, fun and engaging challenges during the summer holidays.

The passport included a 6-week timetable of activity all of which were designed promote learning, exploration and enable families to spend quality time together.

“ Our Summer Adventure Passport has done exactly what we wanted it to do, provided families with six-week of fun and learning, with activities on offer in and around our local communities.

It’s been a resounding success in terms of the numbers of families who have gotten involved, but also from the feedback we’ve received about the sessions on offer too. All the activities were designed specifically to build valuable skills for our children aged 5 and under.

Those early years pass us by so quickly, and the passport has been a valuable tool for parents in preparing their children for school. Thank you to all who got involved and supported this new initiative.” “

Councillor Mark Statham, Portfolio Holder for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning

Walsall Council

Families have shared overwhelmingly positive feedback about the passport, highlighting the impact it’s had on family wellbeing. One parent shared, “…without the summer adventure passport, I probably wouldn’t have left the house. Knowing there were activities to get involved with gave me a reason to get out each day”.

Other heart-warming feedback included:

“Thank you for the summer adventure passport it’s really exciting and helpful for our children to learn and meet friends also for moms to meet and talk.”

“I couldn’t believe these activities where free! Amazing offer for our children.”

“The activities have been fabulous; we want to come again.”

“The Family Hubs have become my safe places over the summer.”

“I now feel more confident with my daughter starting school. It’s a huge milestone for us.”

“I just wanted to say thank you, I’ve noticed a real effort being made for the children of Walsall over the last few years.”

The programme was delivered by the council’s Family Hubs team and is part of the council’s commitment to supporting families with opportunities for children to thrive and be happy.

The council has four Family Hubs across Walsall, with a wide variety of help, support, and activity taking place all-year round. Find your nearest Hub and find out what’s on the Family Hub website: Family hubs :: Walsall Family Hub
