The Woman of Worth Award, an initiative of WWCOTY, now has finalists

The aim of the WOW Award is to recognise the worth and career of a woman in the motor industry or motorsport who has made an outstanding contribution.

This year the nomination process included the automotive industry. A total of 30 nominations were received. These were whittled down to ten finalists by three non-voting jury members.

Now it is the turn of the 76 jurors from 53 countries to vote for the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year. They are the ones who will decide which woman deserves the WOW Award 2024. The winner will be announced on 4th June 2024.

Last year’s winner was Dr Astrid Linder of Sweden, the inventor of the female crash test dummy.

Co-ordinator of the WOW Award is Sandy Myhre from New Zealand, founder of Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year with help from Sabrina Parant of Belgium.

Executive WWCOTY President, Marta Garcia, said the award is an important catalyst to promote women in the automotive industry and in motorsport. “We are thrilled the industry has responded so well with so many nominations coming forward this year.”

About Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year

Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year is the only car awards group in the world comprised exclusively of women motoring journalists. It was created by New Zealand motoring journalist Sandy Myhre in 2009. She is Honorary President while Marta García is Executive President.

This unique award aims to recognise the best cars of the year and to give a voice to women in the automotive world. The voting criteria are based on the same principles that guide any driver when choosing a car. The jurors do not select a ‘woman’s car’ because cars are not gender specific. Aspects such as safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, benefits and environmental footprint, among others, are considered when casting the votes.

However, beyond choosing the best cars of the year, our goal is also to give visibility to women in the automotive world and to contribute to making women’s voices heard on all continents because mobility for a woman means access to many personal and professional possibilities.
